FOOD/HUNTING • Cherokee Indians grew corn, beans, and squash and hunted deer , bear ,and elk.
SHELTER • Log cabins with roofs made of bark
GOVERMENT • Formed a government based on that of the United States . • There was a separation of power and duties within the government of the Cherokee into two groups: a civil and peace organization and a military or war organization.
RELIGION • They worshipped a Sun God. • Their religious leader was called a medicine man.
RITUALS/CEREMONIES • In August came the Green Corn Ceremony . • The towns were protected from enemies by stockade like structures . There were six main festivals held by the chief each year.
UNIQUE FACTS • Moccasins were originally made of soft leather stitched together with sinew.
