Team SacajaweaChris Brakebill, Blake Forsyth, Matt Hockett, and Adam Hurlbut • Chex Dig Ferrari’s Foosball Fiasco
Device Design • The device is designed to harness the potential energy of multiple masses. • The potential energy of the foosball becomes kinetic as it rolls down the ramps. • It’s kinetic energy converts the potential energy of the weighted see-saw which then moves the K’nex car down the other see-saw and off the edge • The car tips the bottle over and pours the water down the tube and into the milk jug, thus raising the kilogram mass.
Potential Energy • There are several objects in the device which have potential energy: • The ball at the top of the ramp • The wooden mass on the see-saw • The k’nex car on the 2nd see-saw • The water in the bottle • The milk jug and the water inside it
Design/Construction • Some issues we had during construction: • Keeping the ball on the track consistently • Making sure the water bottle flips • Transferring water from the bottle to the jug consistently • Water leakage/loss
Conclusions • Considering the budget and time, our machine was fairly successful, though not 100% consistent • If we had more money and time to work on the water transfer it could have worked better • Inefficiency isn’t too difficult to accomplish
