Information Technology Projects – 1 • Central Computer Laboratory (150 PC) • Aim: To provide 7/24 service for students to do their projects and continue their education. • Departmental Computer Laboratories (650 PC) • Aim: To provide students with powerful technological tools for their education. With newly acquired 800 PCs EMU has increased the number of P4 PCs from 2200 to 3000 and the sum total to 4500 PCs. It is our goal is to provide one powerful PC for every three students.
Information Technology Projects- 2 • Mobile Education Technologies (300 NoteBooks + 160 Data Projectors) • Aim: To provide teaching staff with multimedia facilities for presentations in all classes.
Information Technology Projects - 3 • Electronic Documentation • Aim: To convey all documents into an electronic environment and provide an paperless communication environment at the university.
Information Technology Projects- 4 • Support for Student Affairs • Electronic Identity Card • Students will be able to use their electronic identity cards to complete some procedures • Electronic Documents • Students will be able to download electronic documents via the Internet
Information Technology Projects - 5 • Television Education • Aim: Support for Faculty of Communication and Media Studies television studios to provide students with better practice facilities
Information Technology Projects- 6 • Mapping CAE Education • Aim: To improve computer-aided industrial production and design facilities for students of Architecture and Engineering Faculties
Information Technology Projects – 7(i) • Computer network Infrastructure, Wireless and Safety • Aim: To provide all EMU staff with powerful infrastructure network and wireless communication facilities on campus, • To increase the number of network terminals in staffrooms, laboratories, lecture halls, and students dormitories from 6500 to 9500. • 85 % of the campus area will be covered with wireless communication facilities and all staff and students will be able to use the Internet information sources provided by the University.
Information Technology Projects – 7(ii) • Campus Communication Network • EMU, with its 9500 fast computer terminals is among the universities which have powerful communication network facilities.
Information Technology Projects – 7(iii) • Internet Links • Although EMU has the most powerful Internet links in North Cyprus, its capacity has not yet reached international standards. We continue to work for providing alternative links.
Contribution of Investments to Society • Eastern Mediterranean University contributes to society with its investments. • EMU provides some village schools with some computer facilities for education by donating personal computers under the supervision of TRNC Ministry of Education and Culture. • EMU provides logistic support to various information technology projects of the state. The most important of these projects is Real Estate Inventory project where EMU provided logistic support as well as software development. • Formal broadcasting organizations like TAK, BRT use EMU facilities to broadcast to the whole world. • Many organizations of the state like the Parliament, Embassies, ministries and similar state institutions make use EMU facilities and support.
