Location? • Located in the Wasatch mountains in northern Utah, about forty miles from salt lake city.
Formations? • The most well known formation in the Timpanogos cave is “The Great Heart of Timpanogos” (5.5ft =length, 1 cubic yard=volume) • Beaded helicoids are also on the walls.
Main force? • Erosion is the main force of how timpanogoswas formed.
Geologic history • The earliest rock found in the timpanogos is a deposition of sand and mud. The deposition was interrupted by a long period of glaciation during which massive tongues of ice spread out into the area and left bodies of poorly sorted glacial till, after the glacation there was a tectonic uplift and that caused extreme erosion which is left looking the way it is now.
