When the Holocaust Was Over… • It Was Over On May 8, 1945 • They Called It V-E Day • They Were Called “Displaced Persons” • Finding New Homes For The Jews Was The Job Of The United Nations Relief And Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) • In 1947 The Job Was Passed On To The International Refugee Organization (IRO)
Resettling The Survivors… • When The IRO Took Over In 1947, There Were Approximately 1,200,000 Jewish And Non- Jewish People Looking For Homes. • In The Next Few Years The IRO Was Able To Resettle About A Million Jews.
Where The Jews Fled To… • They Fled To France, Canada, Great Britain And, Israel. • 137,000 Jews Came To The United States.
Children After The Holocaust… • Most Of The Children In The Holocaust Were Murdered. • Many Of The Children Who Survived Were Orphans Or Put Up For Adoption.
What Ended The Holocaust…. • To End The Holocaust Allied Forces Defeated And Occupied Germany. • The Forces Liberated The Camps. • They Defeated Nazi Germany. VS
