Radians Vs. Degrees 1 radian
Vocabulary • Initial Side: starting side or ray • Terminal Side: finished side or ray • Standard Position: initial side that starts on the positive x-axis • Conterminal Angle: angles that share the same sides, but have different Values • Reference Angle: the angle created with the x axis
Diagrams Standard Terminal Side Clockwise Initial Initial Side Counter Clockwise Counterclockwise: Negative angle Clockwise: Positive Angle
Coterminal • A positive Coterminal angle you add 360 degrees • A negative Coterminal angle you subtract 360 degrees Ex. 1 Ex. 2
Finding Reference Angle * When the angle is in quadrant 1 it equals that number
Finding Exact Values(Podcast) 1st quadrant: all six functions will be positive 2nd quadrant: sin is positive cos is negative tan is negative cot is negative sec is negative csc is positive 3rd quadrant: sin is negative cos is negative tan is positive cot is positive sec is negative csc is negative 4th quadrant sin is negative cos is positive tan is negative cot is negative sec is positive csc is negative UNIT CIRCLE A website to help with this: ://mathmistakes.info/facts/TrigFacts/learn/vals/isum.html
