MOPS and Development Squad • Successful year with promotions at vairous levels including Nick Ramsden and Terry Garnett reaching Northern Group (L5) • Increase in numbers of the Development Squad for 2011-12 • MOPS will look to support and develop all match officials within the Federation and is taking on board the views and suggestions of Members of the Societies. (Please use your Society Representatives to pass on more information) • Requirements of Squad Members: • Attend Development Squad Meetings • Attend Society Meetings • Take required fitness test and maintain an acceptable level of fitness • Produce and share a Personal Development Plan • Be available for Senior and Society Appointments • Complete a ‘club visit’ and provide feedback to ‘club referees’ • Undertake training courses as required or suggested by Development Squad Coordinator 2011

Planning and Training • Federation Development Day • Held at York R.I on Sunday 17th August 2011 • Further updates to be sent to ALL Societies • Any suggestions should be forwarded asap • T & D Activity • Full Programme of training events organised by Society Training Officers • Additional Events planned as follows: • 12th Oct L10 – Recruits Wetherby RUFC 7-9pm • 9th Nov L6 - L9 Wetherby RUFC 7-9pm • 14th March ALL Wetherby RUFC 7-9pm • Next years Conference provisionally August 19th 2012 Venue TBC 2011

  12. The Way Forward • Key changes for 2011/12 • A co-ordinated and agreed by all Member societies policy for referee development. The key points covered in it are: • How many reports are required to be considered for re grading • Greater involvement by Society Training & Grading Officers • Policy for external referees joining Yorkshire • Mentor groupings • Attendance Criteria (linked to re-grading) • What happens if not perceived to be correctly graded • Introduction of the review card • Introduction of Minimum Fitness levels
