  2. Sheffield FCLeisure Complex Sheffield Football Club, the oldest club in the world is to be taken over by a Russian billionaire with ambitions of FA Cup and European Cup glory. He plans to invest millions in: • 70,000-seater stadium • Fitness club • Shopping centre • Cinema • A brand new team

  3. Sheffield FCLeisure Complex You must carefully study each of the 3 sites and complete the sheet giving as much detail as you can You decide on the best site ~ remember you will have to explain your choice in a lot of detail to the Russian ~ he’s a pretty powerful and scary chap

  4. What should you consider before making your choice? You MUST answer these questions on your presentation Its location (which part of the city is it in?) eg. outer suburbs – near the edge, inner city – near the centre How would people get there? – is it accessible by road, rail, tram, car etc? How far to motorway, train station, tram stops? What it the land like? Is it suitable to build on? Is it level or sloping? Are there any natural hazards? Might it flood? What it in the immediate area? - type of housing, industry etc What is the environment like? - is it a BROWNFIELD (used for building already) or a GREENFIELD site (undeveloped land)? Would anyone object to this site? - consider traffic, noise, parking, effect on house prices etc. What benefit might the development bring to the local area?

Choose your site and present your plan….. • On A3 paper ~ an annotated map – labelling should explain why this is the best site (For size of stadium, checkout Hillsborough or Bramhall Lane) • How will you overcome any problems? eg. slopes, car parking, access to public transport, opposition from locals, using a greenfield site, competition from other venues • The billionaire will only fund an exciting but realistic project……. pick him a good team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (it can be a Fantasy team, a family team, a team from history, a silly team……………..)

EXAM FRIDAY 8TH FEBRUARY • One sheet of A3 paper • Stick the map of your chosen site in the middle • Add detailed labels with arrows to highlight all the reasons you have chosen this site • Add detailed labels with arrows to explain how you are going to overcome any problems • Your presentation MUST LOOK GOOD Now, add your design for the leisure complex and don’t forget to show your chosen team!!!!!!!!!
