  1. News from Mrs. Jao’s Class Curriculum Corner Teacher’s Corner The second semester has began and I look forward to many more exciting things to learn and do in second grade. I hope all of you had a relaxing and enjoyable Winter Break and best wishes in the Year 2008. A great big thanks to all of you for the generous gift certificate that was presented to me at the Christmas party. A teacher always loves to go shopping in a bookstore. Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness. A special thanks to our room mother, Miki Pan, for making all the arrangements for our enjoyable Christmas party and thanks to all the mothers and fathers that helped to supervise activities. The children had a wonderful time making the crafts and playing the games. Thanks also to Miki and Katie Chen for making our classroom look very festive for the Christmas celebration. Reading: Reading Center Activities and Guided Reading groups. Math: Two Dimensional Shapes Writing: Drafting and Publishing Fiction and Non Fiction pieces Spelling: Words with the vowel sound in ball and words with the consonant clusters of br, fr, br, gr, fl, gl, pl and cl. Theme: Experiments using Solids and Liquids Dates to Remember Jan. 17 – ReTakes of Student Photos January 25 – Fourth Day Flea Market Feb. 1– Second Grade Chinese New Year Celebration with Pot Luck Lunch
