What is a Pizzelle? • Flavored Italian specialty cookie made in a heated mold or press in some sort of pattern. Closely resembles a waffle cone. • Typical flavor is Anise but many other types are common. • Pronounced “Pitts-Sell”, “Pitts-El-Lay” 0r “Pizz-El-Eee”

Making Pizzelle • First, get an Iron! • Two Types Available • Hand held over heat. • Self heating electric counter top models.
How to Cook Pizzelle • Mix the dough or batter. • Mixer with dough hook for speed, ease and convenience. • Typical recipes use: • Flour, Sugar, butter, eggs and flavorings
How to Cook Pizzelle • Pre-Heat Iron.
How to Cook Pizzelle • Load dough or batter in Iron. After loading dough, clamp iron shut and flip it for even heating while placing on burner. Cook, Remove from heat and repeat.
Cooking Tips • Time carefully to avoid burning. • Make sure you flip the iron to heat evenly. • Use CAUTION, surfaces get HOT! • Remove and repeat until all done!
Serve with: • Coffee or Tea. • Ice Cream or Gelatto. • Liqueurs or Cordials. • Or, great by themselves.
