  2. The Beginning of Audio Technology Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville On the date of March 25 1857, he received French patent #17,897/31,470 for the phonautograph. He was not, however, able to profit from his invention and spent the remainder of his life as a librarian and bookseller Thomas Alva Edison The patent on the phonograph was issued on February 19, 1878 The phonograph expanded on the principles of the phonoautograph. Perfected by Thomas Edison in 1878.

  3. Magnetic tape and Motion Pictures This was first demonstated in 1935, during World War 2. Engineers at AEG, working with the chemical giant IG Farben, created the world's first practical magnetic tape recorder, the 'K1', AEG, Founded in 1883, as an Electrical industry. the "wheel of life" or "zoopraxiscope". Patented in 1867 by William Lincoln, The first motion picture film.

  5. Cd’s and Digital storage Cd is short for (Optical Disc) In 1974 a project was started with a 7 man team from the Phillips company to recreate an optical disc that was vastly better then the large vinyl record. Cd (Optical Disc) This was used for Digital storage. Later used for dvd’s and games

  6. Introduction to Speakers and improvements Speakers They were put into radio’s, tv’s, computers, etc. They were first developed as an add on to the telephone. Were further developed. To make better products.

Enhanced speakers and Audio profiles So…. 7.1 Surround sound speakers How surround sound works A multichannel sound technology that features 7 channels of sound in the left, right, center, left surround, right surround, left rear, right rear positions. 7.1 systems also have 1 channel for LFE (low frequency effects) which is usually sent to a subwoofer. This would be distributed around the room. But… Now have virtual surround sound with gaming headphones. Or just regular headphones

  8. Interesting Facts According to WikiPedia, the first documented use of Surround Sound occurred in 1940. Certain speakers can cost thousands of dollars. Almost as much for a used car.

Pros and Cons to Audio Media Technology Pros Cons - Has been very beneficial to our world. - Can break - Cyber bullying - We can listen to music - Prank calls - Radio, audio recordings - Hearing loss - Saves lives (911) - If you are on the road, and you are listening to music, you cannot hear your surroundings, which could put you in danger. - Notifies us. (text messages, school bell, fire alarm. etc) - Cost

  10. Future of.. Water proof speakers (for phones) Water resistant, big sound, Bluetooth speaker that's mountable to nearly anything
