  2. Bioscience Circle of South GeorgiaGeography • The WRR2 Region consists of nine counties: Berrien, Brooks, Colquitt, Cook, Echols, Lanier, Lowndes, Tift & Worth. The region is: • ~ 120 miles long (North to South) • Has a perimeter of ~ 312 miles • County populations vary from ~105,000 in Lowndes to ~ 4,100 in Echols. Total population of ~276,000 • Dominated by agricultural and forestry activities

Bioscience Circle of South Georgia Workforce Development • Slowing growth rates of workforce • Labor force growth pattern for 2008-2009 • Past turnover rates • While statistics are high I believe they are actually higher, at least in Lowndes County Take-Away: If economic growth is to occur we must develop the existing workforce

Bioscience Circle of South Georgia – Challenges to Meeting the County Goals County Results As of the End of May Cook – Certified Brooks at 177% - waiting on HSGR reporting Berrien at 128% - need to increase HSGR Lanier at 44% Lowndes at 87% Echols at 67% Colquitt at 47% Tift at 48% Lanier at 44% Assessments For the Rising Senior Class To Fulfill %’s.
