  2. Who are the Lynching Crusaders • They are a bard of woman organized to stop lynching

  3. People who were lynched • William Head- Accused of complicity in murder of a white man • Hayes Turner- Accused of family relationship with a criminal • Mary turner- accused of making remarks that angered whites

  4. How many people lynched • In Florida 24 whites lynched and 254 blacks lynched it was 282 people lynched all together. • In Georgia 34 whites lynched and 491 blacks lynched it was 530 all together.

  5. Lynching year’s • From 1882 – 1998 4,743 lynching’s occurred in the u.s. • Between 1890 and 1900 Georgia averaged more than one mob killing per month. • During the 1880’s and 1890’s instances of lethal mob violence increased steadily.

  6. victims • Georgia's toll of 458 lynch victims was exceeded only by Mississippi’s toll of 538. • Between 1882 and 1930 the American South experienced an epidemic of fatal mob violence that produced more than 3,000 victims. • The Atlanta constitution estimated that 2,000 people witnessed this torture killing.
