Why they were built • The terra-cotta warriors were built to protect the emperor when he died. • The emperor had craftsman make the clay terra- cotta warriors and they put them in the hole that the emperor was buried in.
What they were made of ? • The terra-cotta warriors were made of terra-cotta, a strong kind of clay. • They were as tall as a regular person. • They used kilns to make the terra-cotta warriors.
How they were found • In 1974, three farmers were digging a well when they dug up a head of a terra-cotta warrior. • They kept digging and found more and more Terra-cotta warriors.
The 4 pits The first pit had the main forces of about 6,000 foot soldiers. The second pit was much smaller than the first pit and had horses charioteers. The third pit had 70 soldiers archaeologists think that the third pit is the headquarters. The forth pit was recently found but it did have any soldiers.
