  3. What are Keds? • Made of canvas and a soft rubber sole • Worn by • Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Jackie O • First made only for girls • AKA: The American shoe

  4. Did you know… • Made by the US rubber company • same company as converse • Originally called Peds • meaning foot in Latin • Originally keds only came in white • now come in various colours

Timeline • 1916~ first pair of “champion” sneakers • 1924~ preferred shoe for pro tennis • 1926~ introduced “The Triumph” • 1938~ first comfortable high heel shoe • 1949~ pro keds introduced • 1970~ preferred shoe for pro basketball • 1981~ Sugar Ray became spokesperson • 1980~ keds become the “it” look • 2004~ went pink

  6. Colours of Keds The “champion” shoe comes in many colours: ~Brown ~Black/White ~Black/Black ~White~Stone~Navy~New Red~Purple~Olive~Graphite Gray *As well as seasonal colours and custom colours and designs
