One-Stop Operator in LWIA 8 • Consortium of Partners • WIA, Wagner Peyser, Mature Worker, TN College of Applied Technology, Adult Education, Job Corps, Veterans Affairs • Contributing Partners - Financial or Services • Quarterly Consortium Meetings • Extended to all partners across LWIA • Resolve Issues at local level • Interview staff to spark ideas/improvements • Survey customers

First Quarter • Proactive approach…began “saving” in January • Have not filled or replaced 4 positions • Staff layoffs -5 positions • Using incentive funds to continue training service to customers • Renegotiated leases to lower cost • Sincere “thank you” to state for awarding 80% of Dislocated worker funds to locals, plus one time supplemental funding • Consider leaving Veteran or specialized staff in targeted career centers

Career Center Closures Dickson Dover Franklin Springfield Customer Confusion Keeping offices open with WIA staff Financial Impact- $60,000 Renegotiated Leases - $30,000 savings Will seek new space in Williamson County this year Actively seeking other partners –Rescare, Staffing Agencies, Economic Development Increased workload for remaining WIA staff

  5. 4. Rapid Response Partnership Approach Single point of contact-Local Rapid Response Coordinator to work closely with State Dislocated Worker Unit (DWU) –John Watz Immediate contact with layoff employer/ representative of affected workers (48 hours)

Rapid Response • Initial Meeting: Deliver Overview of services to affected employer • Gather data for Rapid Response/ Company Information Report • Organize, manage, facilitate meetings for impacted employers. • Unemployment Insurance • Adult Education • Union representation • Training Providers • Others • Mass meetings to inform employees of services

Disability Employment Initiative • 102 enrollments (88 are Ticket to Work) • 14 exits due to employment • 9 currently attending higher education • Additional revenue stream-$20,000 Ticket to Work • Partnered with TDVR for Customized employment, potential to earn up to $7,500 for two clients

Retail Employees with Disabilities Initiative (REDI) • Walgreens in Clarksville • REDI is a national program that prepare individuals for employment in a retail environment.  • Training includes: • Cash register operations, • Customer service • Inventory • Store signage and displays. • Enrollees complete 4 weeks of training and earn a REDI certificate • Two individuals have completed and applied for jobs at Walgreens.

A Success Story…Beverly “If you’re not making someone else’s life better, you’re wasting your time.” ~Will Smith • First Ticket to Work Enrollment in DEI Initiative • Unemployed RN since 2006 due to sustaining an injury • Enrolled in WIA and Ticket to Work where she… • updated her resume • attended job readiness workshops • Learned about accommodations in the workforce • Obtained RN night shift job at Skyline Medical Center • 36 hours/week at $35.41 per hour • Enrolled in master’s program
