AP Statistics Name: ____________________________________ Chapter 3 Vocabulary Project Date: ____________________________________ Unit 3 in our Statistics course focuses on designing effective experiments and studies that will allow us to draw conclusions about populations of interest as confidently as possible. Your textbook offers over 30 vocabulary terms in sections 3.1-3.3 which are important for our foundation of statistics. Your task (either individually or with one other person) will be to create concept maps of many of these vocabulary terms. Each map will be created using Inspiration Software that is available on your student laptops. You will have two full class periods to create these maps. Each map must include the terms listed (and any other terms that you feel are relevant/related), a description of the term, and an example of the term. Additionally you must include some additional component (this could be positives and negatives of the method, a compare/contrast with another term, etc). This additional component for each will require some creativity! Each concept map should fit on between 1 and 2 pieces of paper when printed. (Ms. Schrier can show you methods for testing this). Concept Map 1 – Title: Experiment Designs Terms: Completely Randomized Design Block Design Matched Pairs Design Concept Map 2 – Title: Sampling Designs Terms: Voluntary Response SampleSimple Random Sample Stratified Random Sample Cluster Sampling Systematic Sampling Convenience Sampling Multistage Sampling Concept Map 3 – Title: ?? Terms: Subjects Treatment Placebo Placebo Effect Control Group Double Blind Lack of Realism Undercoverage Nonresponse Response Bias Wording of Questions **You can split the last group of terms into two separate maps if you would like.**
