Supporting Sentences What are supporting sentences? Supporting sentences give details. They support the main idea of the paragraph. Think about every detail you add to a sandwich to make it delicious...like tomato, lettuce, ham, and cheese...YUMMY!
Closing Sentence Write a closing sentence on this slice of bread. What is the closing sentence? The closing sentence is the last sentence of the paragraph. It restates the main idea.
Why do you think the bread is important in making a sandwich? Brainstorm a moment.... It holds everything together...what’s a sandwich without the bread?
Why do you add things like cheese and ham to your sandwich? It makes it better...adds flavor, thickness, crunch...
