Rebound Control • Focus is to stop the puck • Don’t make your job harder than it already is • Three results from a rebound???
Playing the Puck • Make it easier on your defensemen • Help your team keep puck possession • Be the quarterback • Communication
Weekly Approach • Different for everyone • Have an idea of what you want to work on for the week of practice • Communicate with your coach so you’re on the same page • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-i2XhMMzdE&list=PLwCJnIelbsWqAeXZ_4guanXeYugFVQa-b&feature=player_detailpage
Before Practice • Have your focus areas • Tennis ball work • Stretching • Ten forehand shots • Ten backhand shots • Movement drills
During Practice • Use warm up shots to track the puck • Try to stop every shot • Concentrate on movement. Stay in your stance as if you were in a game • Use warm up shots to track the puck and follow the rebound • After the initial save, be ready for the second save. Get in the habit of preparing for a rebound • Focus on playing the puck and setting it up for your D-men
Game Day • Just play the game you love • Have fun being a goalie • You have put a lot of work into improving your weaknesses
