GET A PHYSICAL –Before August 26th! • You must have a physical • Both Parent and Signature Required • Three different pages for both signatures • UIL Concussion Acknowledgement Form • Both Parent and Student Signature Required • FEES • Athletic Participation Fee - $40.00 • Family Rate: $60.00 • Insurance purposes • Uniform Fee - $20.00 • Football Fee- $5.00 • You must have a physical and have paid the participation fee to participate. UIL and ELIGIBILITY • Eligibility calendar for PISD • Need to study it • Lose/Gain Eligibility • Regain Eligibility • Athletics Web Page (not released just yet) • NO PASS… NO PLAY! • Nine week grading period • The first six weeks will act as the official grading period for UIL eligibility purposes. • Technically a progress report grade • If you are failing, during the first six weeks of the first 9 week grading cycle, you will be ineligible. • This is only for the first grading period. • GRADES • Instill good work habits in the classroom • Early • Consistent • Skyward ACADEMICS
Security • Label everything • Shoes, Mouth pieces, shirts, etc. • Two days worth of stuff… • Lock your locker • Keep valuables at home • Find an item, i.e., cell phone, wallet, etc. • Give item to a coach • THEFT • Inform a coach • File a report with the SRO • Safety • Let us know of a problem immediately • Issues with a teammate • Stolen Items • Do not be in the locker room unsupervised • No horseplay • Games • “Neck” • “freshcut” SAFETY & SECURITY
1) Coach’s philosophy. • 2) Expectations the coach has for your son or daughter, as well as other players on the team. • 3) Locations and times of practices and contests. • 4) Team requirements, i.e., fees, special equipment needed, school & team rules, off-season expectations. • 5) Procedures that will be followed if your child becomes injured during participation. What to expect from your coach
Appropriate concerns to discuss with a coach: 1) The mental and physical treatment of your child. 2) What your child needs to do to improve. 3) Concerns about your child’s behavior. PLAYING TIME: It is very difficult to accept your child is not playing as much as you may hope. Coaches make decisions based on what they believe is in the best interests of all students participating. Issues NOT appropriate for discussion with your child’s coach: 1) How much playing time each athlete is getting. 2) Team strategy. 3) Play calling. 4) Any situation that deals with other student-athletes. PARENT EXPECTATIONS
Be at practice everyday • Cannot learn if you are not at practice • Need a note should you not be at practice • Unexcused if you simply do not show up without an documentation • Dress out everyday • Injured or not • Must have athletic clothes everyday • “neck and abs” • Code of Conduct: Follow the school rules • Football is a privilege • Stay out of ISS, ALA, etc. • Hidden consequences • Tryouts • Practice and games • Consequences • If a player goes against the code of conduct and/or athletic handbook, consequences will be enforced • Playing time cut • Motivational Drills • Dismissal From the program • STAY FOCUSED • Each day that you are at school, in the classroom, hallways, practice fields, locker room, etc., you must stay focused on what the expectations are for you as a student-athlete. Simply act accordingly and with maturity so that you stay out of trouble. Know and understand this... if you do something that is against the student code of conduct, there will be a consequence. To be in athletics is to be in football! PLAYER EXPECTATIONS

During the four-day acclimatization period, no contact activities shall be permitted. All student athletes who arrive after the first day of practice are required to undergo a four-day acclimatization period. No interschool scrimmages or games shall be allowed until after a period of at least seven days of contact football. Practice Schedule
