Reflection of the Course I felt that as I was taking this class I learned two key factors in English. First, don’t ever be scared to write. Secondly, there is no limit. English114A with Professor Hymes made me realize that English was actually very enjoyable and I actually learned something. I have finally set a strong foundation of English. Grammar did improve over the time of this semester. Professor Hymes made me use my strengths to make my essays illuminate and make my weakness start to fade off. The constant guide that Professor Hymes was leading into was very pleasant. Because of that guide, I started to truly become a decent English writer with the help of Professor Hymes unique guide. I am grateful for her help and I wish that I could’ve had her in my high school because I would’ve actually learned something then.
Things I actually enjoyed doing in English 114A • Watched good examples on YouTube • Had a lot of class discussions • Getting professor Hyme’s help • Doing Progression essays • Doing Drafts for the Progression essays • Hearing Professor Hymes random stories • Talking about future • Talking about topics on what the next assignment should be • The fun Ice Breakers in the beginning of the semester • Peer review with the students • Group work • Potluck that is going to happen soon
How I felt about this class. • The environment of the classroom was very nerve wrecking at first. It was my first day in CSUN and as a college student. When I first sat down, I was greeted with Professor Hyme’s smile and bubbliness. I knew from that day on forward that this professor will actually care about the students and me. I knew I was going to be in some fun and educational semester. I actually did learn a lot and glad that I learned what kind of a writer I was. I am really happy that I got met a professor like the one I had. I haven’t had a professor that actually cared about student’s progress. It is really good to see a professor cares about the student’s growth as a writer and as a English student. Professor Hymes is the best.
