Mr Wray’s checklist for an OUTSTANDING LESSON! • A lesson that meets all the content required of year 8 • Clear LO’s and a level 5, 6 and 7 outcome. • A good range of scientifically accurate information that is accurate and interesting • Enthusiastic and knowledgeable teaching. • Leadership from all involved • A wide range of tasks for EVERYONE to take part in. There must be easy, medium and hard tasks • A LONG ANSWER QUESTION FOR THE BEIGE SHEET for Mr Wray to mark. • A plenary that shows how much everyone has learnt from you today!
GAMEPLAN: You MUST submit your lesson to Mr Wray 1 WEEK before you deliver it. No excuses; a missed submission is a missed homework and will have an afterschool DT Everyone MUST learn something Make the lessons fun, but at the end your job is to prove how much everyone has learnt FROM YOU SET 1 PIECE OF WRITTEN WORK FOR THE BEIGE SHEET EVERY LESSON Practical's cannot be changed once requested. EXPECTATIONS ALL team members must respond to their team leader and meet deadlines in a PROFESISONAL and RESPONSIBLE way. Any problems should be raised with the team leader, then escalated to Mr Wray if need be. As you are set no homework for the next 6 weeks, the quality of your work is expected to be OUTSTANDING. MEET ALL DEADLINES! THE MOST SUCCESSFUL TEAM WILL WIN AN END OF TOPIC PRIZE!

Set work for beige mark sheet STEP 1 STARTER – Fun, engaging and linked to last lesson, and readying us for the topic you will cover today STEP 2 A CATCHY INTRODUCTION – A VIDEO, NEWS STORY etc. How does this lesson apply to real life? PLENARY: TEST EVERYONE HAS LEARNED WHAT YOU HAVE TAUGHT THEM Extension: Link it to RSS Extension: Include extra challenges for the people who think the’ve got this cracked TOP TIP! Extension: Test people to see what they already know on the topic Extension: Tests can be exam tests (see mrwray), written work, a storyboard etc. Consider creating a stepped worksheet, instructions or gradually harder tasks Use images, puzzles and visual challenges – get people thinking!
