  1. EXCOM Proposal to GEO X Plenary Preparation of the GEOSS Implementation Plan (GEO Post- 2015)

  2. Rationale Summit Outcome: • Renew GEO for another ten years • Preparation of a new 10-year Implementation Plan based on: Ministerial Declaration 'GEO Vision' document Ministers' opinions • A draft is due to be submitted to the Plenary XI • Requires prompt action

  3. Working Group composition • Need to establish a group to draft such a plan. • Group needs to be formed of distinguished experts and guaranteeing regional balance. • Caucuses will be invited to nominate up to three candidates to participate in group – can be supported by additional specialists. • GEO Co-Chairs will designate the final group ensuring a workable entity.

  4. Roadmap • Caucuses will make nominations by end February. • EXCOM to confirm composition by end March. • Transmission by EXCOM of final Terms of Reference to the Working Group in parallel. • First draft of the Implementation Plan for GEO XI for further guidance. • Final draft to Plenary XII for adoption and endorsement by Ministers.
