What is PODS? • PODS is the recognized industry standard pipeline data model. • PODS provides Pipeline Operators with an enterprise database architecture that is open, vendor-neutral, highly-scalable, and proven. • PODS is the industry best practice for pipeline data management.

What is PODS? PODS Mission The PODS Association’s mission is to develop and support open data storage and interchange standards to meet the needs of the pipeline industry. open
Why is Open Important? Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS) • PODS is built based upon the input of many pipeline companies. • Many service providers build their products to interact with the PODS structure. Pipeline Operators who use PODS are not handcuffed to a single vendor’s software applications.

PODS Relational and GIS • PODS Relational is deployed on Oracle or SQL Server. • PODS Relational is designed to work with a GIS. • PODS Relational is not dependent upon a GIS. • A GIS is used to view the spatial representation of the data within the PODS database. • PODS data may be spatialized in any GIS. • Many software applications are available to manage data within PODS through a GIS interface. The PODS Relational Database
PODS Esri Spatial • PODS Esri Spatial is an implementation of the PODS Standard. • PODS Esri Spatial includes the same tables, attributes, and domains of the PODS Standard, but is designed specifically for an Esri SDE deployment. • Releases of PODS Esri Spatial are maintained in-step with PODS Relational. PODS 6.0 Modularized PODS • In PODS 6.0, only the Core is required, all other modules are optional and largely independent. • Modularization will allow new member companies to select the parts of the model they wish to deploy. • PODS 6.0 will be released for member comment on Monday, September 17, 2012.
Joining PODS • Membership in the PODS Association • One membership per cooperation, includes all employees and subsidiaries. Membership is renewed annually. • Small Pipeline Operator $2,000* • Large Pipeline Operator $5,000** • Service Provider $2,000 • Government Agency $ 500 * Pipeline Operators having less than 1,000 miles (1,609 km) of transmission, less than 1,000 miles (1,609 km) of gathering, and less than 100,000 customer distribution meters ** All other Pipeline Operators
