Information sharing about opportunities and processes in each of the sub-sectors Training Calibern enterprises to take advantage of opportunities through effective use of empowerment instruments Graduation of women companies from SMMEs to companies that deliver on bigger projects Government support in mobilisation of start-up resources for women enterprises in the various sub-sector Lack of research and dissemination of information about the role of women in the various sectors Key challenges that must inform priorities
Sub-sectoral workshops to unpack available opportunities and identify those that can be pursued by SANWIT members with focus on the following cross-cutting issues: Transport health, safety and security Resource mobilisation (Finance), capacity building, ICT in transport and research Focused engagements on scholar transport and non-motorised transport DOT’s facilitation of engagements between industry role-players and SANWIT SANWIT to establish a mechanism for accessing empowerment opportunities e.g. buying shares in established transport entities, etc. Awareness campaigns targeting school going girls and attract them into the transport sector: increase training opportunities in engineering Priorities
Considered the following in relation to the desired SANWIT structure: Caliber of leadership: advocates for SANWIT rather than own company/s An interim co-ordinating committee until the SANWIT AGM is held to facilitate the establishment of SANWIT and provincial chapters The proposed structure for SANWIT should include A board Executive Committee and Secretariat Programmes: Resource mobilisation, Capacity Building, Communication and Marketing, ICT and Research.
