Student Expectations • Come to class and be on time. • Complete class work on time. • Do all your homework and bring it to school with you each day. • Bring all necessary materials to class. • Be an active learner- participate! • Respect others. • All lead to, Organization, Independence, Learning

  7. Fourth Grade Curriculum The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) guide all aspects of the curriculum. • Literacy - Expeditionary Learning • Math - New York Core Curriculum • Social Studies – Harcourt and Junior Geographer • Science - Harcourt

  8. Projects and Trips • There will be a great deal of project based learning which will include RESEARCH. • There will be a variety of field trips that are directly related to the curriculum (CCSS)

  9. Homework • Homework is posted or dictated each and every day. Students are responsible for copying assignments into their homework notebooks. • When assignments and notices are given out they should be kept in homework folders. Students are always instructed to make sure they have everything before they leave. • Homework is due the next day unless otherwise directed. • As stated in the homework policy that was sent home with students the first week of school • PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Pencils are to be sharpened at home nightly.

  10. Additional Information • Students should always have a chapter “book baggie” at their desk for reading if they finish their work early. In addition it is students responsibility to make sure they take home a chapter book EACH and EVERY EVENING.

  11. Grading Scale • 4 = Expert (Proficient) • 3 = Practitioner • 2 = Apprentice • 1 = Novice Progress reports keep you informed of your child’s progress.

  13. Standardized Testing NY State ELA April 1st – 3th, 2014 Math April 30th – May 2nd, 2014 Science May 21st – 30th, 2014 (approximate time frame)

  14. Supplies Needed for the Classroom • All students were given a Grade 4 supply list and we appreciate all the supplies that have have been brought thus far. If your child has not submitted their supplies please do so as soon as possible, • Please replenish your child’s pencil supply as the year continues. As the year continues we may ask you to replenish supplies • When sending money into school, place in an envelope with your child’s name, class, amount enclosed, and what the money is for.
