  2. In the average classroom... to the average pupil .... taught by the average teacher ... ICT is changing teaching and learning.

The discovery of new technologies is constantly changing teaching methods and practices. • Tools such as the internet are opening up a massive wealth of resources for both teachers and pupils a like. • In short it could be said that ‘‘ICT is quite simply transforming primary education.’’ (Wheeler, S. 2005)

  4. But things aren’t always average.

  5. ICT and SEN It is estimated that 1 in 10 children alone suffer from dyslexia. [www.beingdyslexic.com] These figures don’t include, children suffering from: Ilene's Syndrome ADD ADHD hearing and sight impairments physical disabilities emotional disorders metal illness ... • other forms of dyslexia including dyspraxia • exceptionally gifted children • Downs syndrome • Autism • Asperger’s syndrome • Selective mutes

  6. How ICT can help • Independence • makes learning fun and possible to enjoy • A chance to do things which may otherwise be very difficult or impossible • Lessens the feelings of isolation and loneliness • Sense of achievement • understanding and advice

  7. ICT can also help to include, children : • With poor health, chronic or terminal illness • who have been bullied/ or abused • Have problems at home • who live in remote areas or may not be able to travel to school • May not have access to a specialist teacher
