About the TeApiti Cluster Located in the Manawatu and comprised of 6 schools and 100 teachers, TeApiti is a 2010 - 2011 professional development cluster. Our schools are: Russell Street, Roslyn, Riverdale, Ashhurst, North Street and Halcombe.
Our theme during 2011 is ‘creativity' and our goal is to motivate and empower teachers to use ICTs and eLearning creatively to engage students in authentic learning experiences. A reflective summary of TeApiti initiatives and actions during 2011
Working collaboratively we are extending: • Leadership in principals, teachers and students • Teacher knowledge and practice • Family and whanau actively participating in learning to support the learners’ education
Leadership Focus of work • To extending the number and capability of leaders at all levels through a deliberate leadership programme that capitalises on the existing collaboration; • Enhanced ability by leaders to drive change through planning, facilitation and the teacher inquiry cycle A reflective summary of our leadership initiatives.
Teacher knowledge and practice All the schools on our cluster have continued to research, reflected on and refined their ‘teaching as inquiry' frame work. Planning included the framework and a planning template with reflective question. A reflective summary of extending teacher knowledge and practice.
Family and whanau actively participating in learning to support the learners’ education • Students use critical thinking to participate in a range of authentic learning experiences. • Monitoring the extent to which parent and whanau were engaged using KaHikitia (3.5) Principal’s spotlight sharing ‘Effecting change for Maori Students’.
