ERASMUS exchange Edinburgh has Erasmus agreements in 180 universities in more than 20 countries. Exchange links are between departments, so where you go depends on what you study. • exchanges are for 3 to 12 months (typically students go for two semesters) • for Physics students, exchanges possible only in Junior Honors year • deadlines: January/February in your second year of study • credits (not grades!) will count towards your final degree http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/international-office/exchanges/erasmus/overview

Application process • on-line application through International Office, after agreement with DoS • deadline: January/February in Year 2 • options: three at present, but may increase in future • selection criteria: • academic performance (B-average generally required in Year 1) • motivation and ambassadorial qualities • linguistic suitability (minimum of one year’s university level study, as non-beginner, • or equivalent) • added value for the student once selected, follow your host university's instructions to apply for admission be aware to meet host institution’s deadline! http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/international-office/exchanges/erasmus/application
ERASMUS Grant • no tuition fees are paid at host university • ERASMUS grant available to contribute to extra costs • for students on a full-year exchange, grant is between €2000-3000 • allocation varies depending on departure time and duration of exchange • all participants eligible, provided they are registered on full-time degree programme • application to be made via the International Office • grants available (€500) to improve your language skills http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/international-office/exchanges/erasmus/grant
International Exchange Edinburgh has International agreements with more than 30 institutions in North or South America, Australasia, or Asia. Exchange links are between university, so you can apply at any institution provided subject of study is offered. • for Physics students, exchange possible in Junior Honors • application deadline: November of your second year of study • only credits (not grades) will be transferred

Fees Costs and Other Matters • no tuition fees are paid at host university • participants responsible to meet all other costs (travel, accommodation, insurance,…) • students on loan or grant should apply to awarding body, indicating they will be studying abroad • health and insurance cover are mandatory at some host institutions • Visa as Exchange Student required for all international destinations http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/international-office/exchanges/international-exchange/costs
