  5. Assassination! • What was the Black Hand? • Who was GavriloPrincip? • Whom did he assassinate? • When (exact date) and where did this happen? • Insert 2 pictures that relate to this event • How did this event “trigger” WWI?

  6. War • Who declared war first and on whom? • What was the Von Schlieffen Plan? • Insert a map of this plan. • In what way was this plan a success or failure? • What was the result of the First Battle of the Marne? • What role did taxis play in the First Battle of the Marne? • What and where was the Western Front? • Insert a map of this front.

  7. Trench Warfare • Use bullet points to describe life in the trenches (6-7 minimum) • Insert 3-4 pictures of life in the trenches. • What was the Christmas truce? • Who was Alvin York? • Who was the Red Baron? • Include a picture of each man.

  8. New Weapons of War! • Create 7 slides that explain 7 of the new weapons introduced in WWI (one weapon per slide) • Include a description of the weapon and a picture. You may include more than one picture • Create a slide that shows a picture of an American, French, German, and Russian soldier in uniform. All 4 pictures go on one slide – be sure to label!

German Unrestricted Warfare • Briefly explain what this policy meant. • What happened to the Lusitania and how did this draw the U.S. into WWI? • Be sure to provide some statistics about the Lusitania. • Insert a picture of the Lusitania. • What was the Zimmerman note and how did it help draw the U.S. into WWI? • Insert a picture of the Zimmerman note.

Russia • What were some problems Russia was experiencing during the early part of the war (militarily and politically)? • What was the Bolshevik revolution and who led it? • What happened to Russia after the Bolshevik revolution? • Include 2 pictures that relate to the Revolution. • What was the Treaty of Brest Litovsk?

  11. Biography Sketch • Select one American to highlight (military leader, soldier, nurse, political leader, etc.) • List 5 key facts/contributions about this person • Include one picture.

Be sure they are from WWI and NOT WWII • Write a brief description of what the message of the poster is, in your opinion. • Find 3 propaganda posters used by Central Powers and explain the message of the poster. • Insert one audio clip of a WWI song! (not a link that I have to copy and paste such as You Tube)

  14. WWI at Home • What were Liberty Bonds (or Victory Bonds)? • Insert a picture of a bond. • What were Victory Gardens? • Insert a propaganda poster that relates to a victory garden. • What were ration coupons? • Insert a picture of a ration coupon/book.

The War Ends! • Where was the peace treaty signed and what was the treaty called? • Who were the “Big Four?” (need the leaders’ names) • What was Wilson’s “Fourteen Points” plan for peace? • Be sure to highlight 5 specific parts of his plan. • What was created by the 14th point? • What was the purpose of the League of Nations? • Why did the U.S. fail to join the League?

  16. Germany is Punished • What did Germany have to agree to in the Treaty of Versailles? (Include at least 3) • Insert a picture of Versailles. • How do you think this treaty planted the seeds of WWII?

  17. Casualties of War • What were the casualties of WWI for both the Allied and Central Powers? • You may create your own chart or find one online. • Who lost the most soldiers? (Which side, not which country) • Who lost the most civilians? (Which side, not which country) • What specific country lost the most people, military and civilian combined? • End your presentation with one powerful picture that represents WWI to you.
