The British had about 4000 soldiers in Boston and the American minutemen were training as fast as they could.
The British sent about 700 men to capture Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and the store of arms at Concord.
On April 19th, Americans like Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Dr. Samuel Prescott spread the word.
The British met the Americans on the Village green in Lexington. There someone fired. “The shot heard around the world.”
The British then went on towards Concord and were stopped at Concord’s North Bridge. They then turned and headed back to Boston.
On the way the American sharpshooters shot the British from behind walls and trees. 73 British were killed, and another 200 were wounded.
