Uganda’s overview • Area – 241,551 sq km : land – 199,808 sq km, water – 41,743 sq km • Climate – tropical generally rainy with two dry seasons • Land use – arable land (25%), permanent crops (9%), other (66%) • Demographics – 28.2 million (2002 Census) ~ 31 million • Female – 14.46 million (52%) • Male – 13.74 million (48%) • Major Languages – English, Luganda and Swahili • Literacy rate (2006) – 69% • Female – 63% • Male – 76% Uganda Investment Authority
