Life • Rogelio Was born the 9th of January, 1969 in Murcia, Spain. • Before entering the field, Rogelio went to Harvard University and Wentworth institute of Technology earning a Bachelors degree. • After leaving college, Rogelio moved to San Francisco and began work as an engineer for eBay. As a hobby he began to look into astrophotography (pictures of outer space). Soon he developed his own style of shooting: deep wide field images.
Rogelio’s work • Rogelio’s work has been seen in many places such as BBC, National Geographic, and the Discovery Channel series Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking. It has also been a part of NASA’s picture of the day.
1) I believe that the focus of this picture is not actually any one element but the entire picture. This picture has a good balanced feel to it as well, The upper right hand corner is balanced with the lower left. The lighting for almost all of Rogelio’s pictures are natural lighting.
2) This pictures center of focus is the giant blue sphere. I think the thing that makes this picture so appealing is that the background is bleak and almost colorless except for a few stars, however the blue light catches your eye.
3) This picture is all over the bored. There is literally so much going on that every time you look at it you notice something new. However this picture is not only a little bit blurry but also has some lighting flaws, if parts of the picture would have been brighter then I think the picture would have been much better. However this picture is also very captivating and really shows how much is out there in space.
4) One of Rogelio’s more famous pictures titled Supernova Remnant, this picture shows a red nebula that has formed itself into a complex red web of gasses. The center of focus here is the nebula. Also the lighting here is very good and eliminates the focus very well. This is a very striking picture.
This picture gives off a very dramatic feeling, almost as if there is a tear in the universe its self. The composition in this picture is interesting, while the background has interesting things in it as well as the focus your attention is pretty much dragged into the massive rift dividing the picture diagonally. All in all this picture is quite captivating and a very good shot.
