About cluster • In 2003, the first pioneer cluster in the Czech Republic – the Moravian-Silesian Engineering Cluster was established with support of the CzechInvest • Renamed on the Czech Machinery Cluster in 2008 • Amount of cluster members: approximately 50 • Number of employees of cluster companies: 16 500 • Turnover of cluster companies : 35 billionCZK • Main kind of production: engineering production • Turnover in the field of maritime industry: 25 % • Outside EU: 85 % STRUCTURE OF CLUSTER MEMBERS • engineering companies • VÍTKOVICE, FERRCOMP, Strojírny Třinec • research organisations • ECOFER • educational institutions – schools • VŠB-TU OV, SPŠ FM, SPŠ OV, SŠT OV • organisations connected to engineering • AUTEL, DEVIMEX, KOMA–SERVIS, IVITAS

  5. VÍTKOVICE GEARWORKS a.s. • Delivers for more than 10 years spooling gears for giant winches to Norwegian company I.P HUSE. It is an equipment of special boats for installations of cables and pipes in the sea bottom or for construction or operation of drilling platforms on the sea. • 32 pieces produced in total value of 147 mil. CZK in 2008 • Decrease of production to 20 pieces, resp. 85 mil. CZK in 2009 as a result of financial crisis
