The Canterbury Tales • One of the first books ever to be written in English • About the journey of pilgrims • Chaucer planned to write 120 tales, but managed to complete only 24
Chaucer began to write the stories in the 1380s • Two of the stories are written in prose and the others in verse • Characters from different classes: a knight, a cook, a sailor, a farmer etc.
