Hope you enjoyed my last presentation on multiplication • Topics for this presentation are • Square • Division Done By L.Hariharan
Base clarification Consider (23)(45)(71) Step 1: place 1 Step 2: 7 + 45 = 52=== place 2 Step 3: 5 + 23 = 28=== place 28 Answer = 2821
Squares <20 Hope you have understood with multiplication of numbers. Now I will go on to explain squaring of numbers For performing squares of numbers less than 20. Example: 182 = (18+8 ) / 82 = 26 / 64 Now add subscript 6 with 26, that is you get 32.Combine 32 and 4. Answer is 324
Squares >20 What will you do for numbers greater than 20? Don’t worry I will give you a shortcut. 612 = 602 + (60+61) = 3721 622 = 602 + 4*61 = 3844 Try for squares of 64, 66, 67 with 65 as your nearest number. Note: Squares ending with 5 was done in last presentation.
Test for Divisibility Are you afraid of number 13? From now on you need not have to worry on that. Let us check whether 1001 is divisible by 13. Procedure Step1: 1001 == 100 + (1*4). = 104 Step2: 104 == 10 + (4*4) = 26 Step3: 26 is divisible by 13. Therefore 1001 is divisible by 13
Time to go on... Relax yourself, now I am going to teach you division. Hope you are all confused with our ordinary division. Don’t worry we don’t need any more. Don’t get stunned. From now on you don’t need that black box, which you call it as a calculator Let us go To Division
Dividing numbers ending with 9 1/19 = .0051206031115171809 Step 1: 1/20 = .05, therefore we have found .0 should come Step 2: Add 0 to numerator start dividing 2. Therefore we get quotient as 5 and remainder as 0.(clue: if its 1/29 start dividing by 3) Step 3: Combine remainder(0) and quotient(5). That is we get 05. Step 4: Divide 05 by 2 again and find quotient and remainder as shown in figure. Repeat step 3. Hope you all found the answer. Note: Numbers ending with 3, 7 can be converted so that they end in 9.Hint:3*3=9, 7*7=49.
