TheAtlanticforest, one of therichest and more endangeredecosystems of theWorld The Iguazú National Park (in Argentina) and theIguaçuNational Park (in Brazil) representthesoutherntip of theAtlanticforest, and togetherwiththe preserves of Misiones Provinceare thelargest and bestpreservedremains of thisecosystem.
Objectives • To discover which species are within Iguazú National Park. • 2) To build a DNA barcoding database that will permit the identification of the species of Iguazú National Park in a cost-effective and rapid manner. • 3) To describe the new species that will result from sampling the fauna of Iguazú National Park. • 4) To provide a biodiversity data baseline for the IguazúNational Park that will be a benchmark against which future biodiversity studies can be compared.
