1. Hometime At the end of the day the children will line up near the door of Little Rascals at 3.25. We will send your child to you so please wait until we have seen and acknowledged you. Please don’t collect your child from the line. This is for their safety and our peace of mind. 2. Reading Reading books will be changed one day every week. Your child will receive 2 reading books and a library book for the week ahead. Please indicate in your child’s diary which books have been read and any useful comments about your child’s reading. This is really helpful to us! Please can you ensure your child brings their book bag in each day so that they can read at school too. Welcome to Year 1. Exciting Themes Our topic this term is Myself and My Home. In our topic we will be learning all about homes right back to prehistoric times. The children will learn about our school and the local area. We will also be designing our own rooms as a group project. We will be learning about ‘Ourselves’ and ‘Light and dark’ in science. We will also be going on a class visit to Temple Newsam where the children will take part in a houses and homes workshop. P.E. 1GT P.E. days are Wednesdays and Thursdays. 1CW P.E. days are Tuesdays and Fridays. Please ensure your child’s name is clearly marked on all their kit including the pump bag. Please can you also make sure that your child’s name is on all their uniform. Homework Your child will receive numeracy homework on a Friday in a homework folder. Please make sure the folder is returned on Wednesday with their completed homework. Phonics homework will be sent home on a Wednesday and returned to school the following Wednesday.
