Purpose • Provide an overview of the DASH-I • Communicate DCGS IMINT IPT DASH-I guidance • Schedule • Historical • ESC/NGA Quarterly review of the DASH-I • Formal Service Coordination • D/NGA Signature
DASH-I Overview • Team Charted by DCGS Council to develop DASH-I • The DASH-I is a DCGS document not an NGA document • “DCGS Acquisition Standards Handbook - IMINT” (located on the DCGS On-line Website) • Imagery related standards • DIB related standards (updated to latest version) • Pan-DCGS disciplines of Testing and Security • Written to assist acquisition personnel • CASH V2.2 Relationship to DASH-I V1.0 • CASH applicable to CIGSS acquisitions • DASH-I applicable to imagery portion of DCGS Integration Backbone (DIB) systems (i.e. AF DCGS Block 10.2 and beyond) • AF DCGS Block 10.2 DIB enabled paradigm shift to “capabilities based”, network-centric, web services-based environment
DASH-I Contents Summary • Section 1 defines the purpose and scope of the DASH-I and provides information on background, objectives, and concept toward interoperability compliance. • Section 2provides a listing of documents that form the basis of the standards described in the DASH-I.
DASH-I Contents Summary (continued) • Section 3 describes DCGS Taxonomy • Capability • Element • Service DCGS • DoD DCGS FoS • Enterprise • Section 4 identifies and defines terms and definitions used within the DoD DCGS. • Section 5 identifies the Services’ DCGS AS-IS architectures. • Section 6 identifies interoperability objectives for the DoD DCGS.
DASH-I Contents Summary (continued) • Section 7 identifies the DoD DCGS transformation goals to transition from stovepipe reconnaissance architectures to an objective reconnaissance enterprise architecture. • Section 8 identifies the DoD DCGS TO-BE architecture. • Section 9 outlines the DoD DCGS Test and Evaluation (T&E) strategy.
DASH-I Contents Summary (continued) • Section 10 identifies and describes specific challenge areas for development of the DCGS. • Annex A is a listing of acronyms used in the document. • Annex B is the DoD DCGS Standards (in reference to internodal diagram)
DASH-I Approach to Relating Standards to Interfaces • DCGS Internodal Connectivity Diagram has numbered each interface • Each Standard in the List of Standards (Appendix B) identifies the number of each interface to which it relates

DCGS IMINT IPT DASH-I Guidance • Special DCGS IMINT IPT May 6, 2004 • Only controversial item was when I was indicated that the DASH-I listed the latest version of the DIB Standards (vice the version under contract) • OSD Representative, LTC Scott Sanborn, requested that the official DIB Standards be available online
CONCLUSIONS • Request service reps of the ESC/NGA quarterly to participate in the review of the DASH-I • Request that the definitive and authoritative DIB Standards be placed online at DCGS Online
