Segway: The problems the artifact is trying to address Carolyn Eggenberger • Established on the idea of making a highly-efficient transportation device with dynamic stabilization technology and no emissions. • Focus of development: create a small device that is maneuverable and can be used on sidewalks and pathways. • The official Segway website states that the device solves the problems of being more productive and using less energy, covering more ground and creating fewer emissions, getting more done and taking up less space, and having more fun and doing less harm.

Segway: The problems the artifact is trying to address Carolyn Eggenberger • One businessman made more money by shaving 20 to 30 minutes off of traveling time to meet with more high paying clients and spend less money of parking and gas. • Segway users have become more social because of the conversations the device sparks among friends and strangers. • One important problem the Segway solves is the inability to be mobile for long periods of time. For example, it allowed many customers to take longer “walks” around the neighborhood. • The Segway solves all these problems and more without having a negative effect on the environment
