To date, most than 400 learners from Universities, Research Ethics Committees and National Institute of Health CITI- First year in Latin America

  6. Achievements for the Latin American CITI Program

Latin American CITI International Program- First year • Translation of original U.S. Centric and Non U.S. Centric Modules into Spanish and Portuguese for Human Subject Protection. • Translation into Spanish and Portuguese of Navigational Tools • Translation of the complete content of CGP into Spanish and Portuguese. • Original modules in Spanish with Latin American content for Human Subject Protection. • Great acceptance from users in its first presentation during and international ethics research conference in Lima and Arequipa, Peru. • More than 400 learners from institutions from Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Uruguay and Argentina,

Goals for the next period • To add country specific content into the existent modules for Human Subject Protection, Good Clinical Practices, Responsible Conduct of Research and Animal Welfare. • CITI presence in the most significant regional meetings in research ethics. • To establish fees for Institutional users in the region. • To strengthen our network of Latin American collaborators.

  10. Other current ongoing activities The CITI Program is having discussions with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) about ways of mutual collaboration between their Virtual Campus, a web based learning program for Latin American health authorities in healthcare reform issues and CITI.

  11. Summary The CITI Program has been well accepted and is acknowledged as a valuable educational tool in the region. Our plan is to extend our “footprint” in Latin America, strengthening the networking with research organizations, ethical review boards and academia from Latin America, participating in grants and other opportunities with local organizations. The CITI Program will begin charging user fees for Latin American Institutions
