NetStorage for ESD – What is it? • A managed product that provides persistent, replicated storage • Mirrors content to a small number of core network locations making it highly available to, and easily accessible by Akamai edge servers • Built by layering Akamai’s proprietary replication technology and Global Traffic Management on top of best-of-breed core storage
What is NetStorage (cont.) ? • For storage of semi-permanent assets (images, downloads, streams). • 2 Redundant and Replicated locations. • Content uploaded by FTP, rsync, scp or SSH. • Content download through Akamai network (HTTP/HTTPS) or by FTP (anonymous). • Customer controls accounts and settings through ECMC “NetStorage” app. • When storage groups are created, designated “all servers” or “streaming only” – determines which Akamai servers can request content. • Upload: <customer>.upload.akamai.com • Download: <customer>.download.akamai.com
