DEFINITION: WHAT IS SCHIZOPHRENIA? • REAL DEFINTION: It’s is a severe mental disorder characterized by delusions, hallucinations, incoherence and physical agitation; it is classified as a "thought" disorder while Bipolar Disorder is a "mood" disorder. • MY DEFINITION: A mental illness that’s affects a person’s way of thinking, like seeing or hearing things that aren’t really there.

  3. DIAGNOSIS:SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS! • 1.Loss of interest in everyday activities. • 2.Appearing to lack emotion. • 3.Reduced ability to plan or carry out activities. • 4.Neglect of personal hygiene. • 5.Social withdrawal. • 6.Loss of motivation.

EFFECTS ON LIFESTYLE • Schizophrenia often affects a person’s ability to “think straight.” Thoughts may come and go rapidly; the person may not be able to concentrate on one thought for very long. • The person may withdraw socially, avoiding contact with others; and when forced to interact, he or she may have nothing to say, reflecting “impoverished thought”.
