  2. Involve the Scouts • Opening, Flags, Closing Flags • Greeters: Even Cubs and Brownies • Ushers: With help • Acolytes, Liturgists, etc. • Children's Sermon: Scouts show & tell? • Sermon: Scout, guest, or leader?

  3. Set the date • Have Scout Sunday every year • BSA Anniversary 1st week in February • Not on a Communion Sunday. • Set least 3-6 months in advance • Check church calendar. • Use Whatever date works for you. • The important thing is to have it.

  4. Awards: Celebrate Unsung Heroes • Adult Cross and Flame Awards • Youth Good Samaritan Awards • PRAY Awards • You can re-present an award

  5. Involve everyone • Pastors, United Methodist Men • All Troops, Packs, Crews, etc. • Scouts who meet outside the church • Acknowledge Eagles, Gold Awards • Special talents: Music, singing, etc.

  6. Plan • Youth Led: Not about adults. • Youth led planning too • Start early (3-6 month ahead) • Script out everything • Bulletins, hymns, readings, flags • Displays? Slide shows?

  7. Refreshments • Let the Scouts prepare? • Dutch ovens? • Sell Girl Scout Cookies? Boy Scout Popcorn? Candy Bars? Etc.? • Tie in Scouting for Food?

  8. The Day of the Service • Welcome everyone • Ask: Who was a Scout, leader, etc.? • Scouts sit together up front if possible • Scouts & Leaders in uniform if possible • Recruiting opportunity • Practice, practice, practice • Make it FUN! Keep it moving!
