METROLOGY OF WATER QUALITY Project METREAU Philippe CHARLET
The METREAU project is a concrete study conducted by LNE and BRGM, supported by French Ministry of Research Objectives: - to evaluate the possible benefits of the implementation of a metrological structure for environmental analyses - to assess the natural variability of water characteristics and its effects on the uncertainty of measurement
Project focused on the determination of Cd and Pb in a groundwater Partners of the project: - PT provider: BIPEA and 46 labs having participated in a round robin - Producer of standard solutions: Merck Eurolab - Field laboratory: LDAR

Conclusions • The measurement uncertainty for Lead determination is about 20% (between 13 and 26 % according to the method used) • The METREAU project has shown that a metrological approach: • brings valuable information on reliability of calibration • and give prominence of estimation of possible bias for methods validation
