What is Medical Transcription and Medical Coding & Billing? Every time a patient sees a doctor, the doctor must record the interaction for medical records and billing purposes. Medical transcription and editing converts the recording into the final text format. Medical coding and billing is the crucial next step in insurance and patient billing.
Medical Transcriptionist Medical Transcription Editor Transcribes the audio dictations of doctor-patient interactions, creating the reports that constitute patient medical records. Corrects and edits audio dictation reports that are generated by speech recognition software (Medical Transcription Editors are specialized medical transcriptionists).
