  2. IMMIGRATION! • “Turn to page 88 and let’s read “Why People Immigrate” in small groups. While you are in small groups, you are to: • define the word immigrant and copy it in your notes. • If you want to work ahead of the class, you may re-read and copy down reasons why people immigrate.

  3. Key Point #1: • An immigrant is a person who moves from one country to another. • Immigration is the act of moving from one country to another.

  4. “What factors contribute to a person’s decision to immigrate?”

  5. KEYPOINT #2:A push factor is a reason why immigrants are pushed away from their original country.  something is pushing them away, making them want to leave.

  6. KEYPOINT #3 : A pull factor is any reason that pulls someone to another country.
