  7. Key Characteristics • Platyhelminthes reproduce as hermaphrodites. Most species live in all major habitats and are parasites of other animals eating mostly small animals and other smaller species of animals.

Fun facts • Flatworms can be found in both types of waters, fresh and salt. • Most flatworms are female and male as their gender. • There is only one opening in their body and is used for eating and is also the anus. • Flatworms can live through pollution. • One of the species of flatworms, the tapeworm, can be longer than a school bus. • Another species, the fluke, is only a few millimeters long. • Flukes can produce up more than 500,000 of embryos.
