The Endocrine System Abby, Ashley, Aidan, and David
We are the Endocrine System Our main functions include: • Regulation of hormones • Growth and development • Chemical reactions and body processes • Prepares body to react to danger and stress
The Endocrine System • The endocrine system is about growth, development, metabolism, producing liquid discharges, lowers blood calcium's by stimulating through the bones, kidneys.
Organs in the Endocrine System Some of the organs include: • Parathyroid • Thyroid • Pancreas • Adrenal Gland • Ovaries • Testes • Pituitary
Introducing the Thyroid • Peers, I am about to introduce you to the thyroid that is located inside the neck. • This is what happens when you don’t have salt or iodine in your diet,
The Thyroid • Hi, I am the thyroid and my job in the system is to control growth, development and metabolism. • I work with the parathyroid and within the nervous system. • A disease I can get is Goiter, and it happens when I don’t have salt or iodine. • I’d like to introduce you to the parathyroid and it is located on the four corners of the thyroid.
The Parathyroid • Hi everyone, I’m the parathyroid and my job within the system is to control the blood calcium and bone calcium. • I work with the bones and the blood because I provide them with calcium, also, I work with the every system that needs calcium. • A disease I can get is osteoporosis and it happens because I didn’t control the calcium in my body. • Also I’m going to introduce you to the pituitary gland that control the organs in the endocrine system.
The Pituitary Gland • I am the pituitary gland • My job within the system is to direct other organs and endocrines glands such as the adrenal glands, to suppress or induce hormone production • I direct the other organs in the system • One disease I get is acromegaly and it’s overproduction of growth hormones.
Ovaries and Testes The next organ you will learn about is the adrenal gland! • I am the ovaries and testes • Our job in the system is to help with reproduction • We work with the reproductive system and the organs in it • One disease the testes get is testicular cancer and one disease ovaries get is ovarian cancer
Adrenal Gland • Hi I’m the Adrenal Gland and my job in the system is to cause the “fight or flight” reaction, which helps you when you’re being attacked. • The kidneys are dependent on the Adrenal Glands, because the glands secrete the hormone aldosterone. • A disease that the adrenal gland can get is adrenal gland disorder.
Pancreas • Hi I’m the Pancreas and my job within the system is to inject insulin into the blood stream to protect the blood cells from glucose up taking them, so you don’t gain diseases like diabetes types 1 and 2. • A system that is dependent on me is the digestive system. • A disease I can get is diabetes type 1 or 2 if the pancreas doesn’t succeed at it’s job. • I would like to introduce you to the adrenal gland.
System’s importance within our body • The Endocrine system works with the Skeletal, Digestive, Muscular, Respiratory, Reproductive, Excretory system. • The Endocrine system works with these systems because it control gametes formation, controls breathing rate, controls bone growth, controls muscle metabolism, controls water conservation in the kidneys.
Closing to our Presentation Medulla Oblongata and the H. B. C. should keep our system, the endocrine, and organs as part of the human body systems because……….. • we are needed to help the body grow and develop. • we produce and regulate hormones and these hormones are a big part of what keeps the body healthy. • our system’s organs are needed to be present in order to keep the body working properly • if our system was inexistent there is no possible way for us to live
