Flute. By: Raegan Light. Flute History/Picture. In 1320, flutes were just a piece of wood with holes. In 1670, the flute was still wood, yet it was a 3 piece. The flute is the oldest woodwind instrument, it is from 900 B.C. It is used in almost every music piece from classic to contemporary.
